AC Arlington Dominates another Weekend of Tournaments

Local soccer club AC Arlington has again shown why it is one of the premier soccer clubs in Massachusetts by winning five tournaments in three different age groups over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.  In Brookline Park School at the Northeast Regional Futsal Tournament, ACA Arlington came in first in the U11, U12, and Men’s Open divisions.   The U11 team, coached by club director Qiumars Hedayatian, defeated the Arlington Ajax in the finals by a score of 12-1.  The U12 team, also coached by Hedayatian, defeated black knights FC in semi final and previously-unbeaten SF Vikings team 10-7 in a very exciting finals match. And the Men’s Open team coached by Charlie Cremens defeated Shalrie Joseph SC in the finals, also by a 12-1 margin.  AC Arlington’s U13 team also distinguished itself at this tournament by winning the Fair Play Trophy, which is awarded to the team voted to have demonstrated the best sportsmanship.


At the Wheaton College tournament, ACA Arlington had two teams entered over MLK weekend.  The U11 Team coached by Guiellrmo Garcia was victorious over teams like Scorpions and Fuller hamlets to win the tournament.  Meanwhile the U13 team coached by Rick Caceda reached the finals.




A third U11 team was entered in the SF Vikings U11 invitational tournament in Beverly, MA.  This team, coached by Fedja Pilja and Mark Santello, dispatched all of its opponents, defeating the Galway Rovers of Hingham 5-3 in their finals.
While Mr. Hedayatian is thrilled by his club’s success, he notes that a difficult spring season awaits the ACA Arlington teams. He believes that their recent tournament victories can serve as motivation to focus on the training and development that will allow the players of many different ages and backgrounds to work together to realize their full potentials.
